Today is IBCLC Day 2025!

I am an IBCLC, many people shorten it LC. What exactly is IBCLC Day? It stands for International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. We are health care providers with specialized skills, training and knowledge to support expectant parents, new mothers, families and healthcare teams with breastfeeding and lactation care. We can work in many different settings such as private practice, hospitals, and clinics. IBCLCs also work with policy makers and communities to ensure that the many aspects of breastfeeding is included in new policies. In order to earn the IBCLC designation we are required to meet eligibility requirements and pass an exam every 5 years so that our knowledge and skills remain current and up to date.
